2021 International Plumbing Code – ICC IPC-2021

Scope:
The 2021 IPC® establishes minimum regulations for plumbing system design, materials, installation, and inspection across all building types, excluding detached one- and two-family dwellings and townhouses not more than three stories in height (covered by the IRC). The code includes prescriptive and performance-based provisions and supports the use of new and innovative plumbing methods, materials, and technologies.

Key Updates in the 2021 Edition:

• All-Gender Restrooms:
  Multiple-user toilet facilities are now permitted to serve all genders.
• Sewer Rehabilitation Methods:
  Two new procedures added for relining and rehabilitating existing sewers.
• Rooftop Solar Accommodation:
  Provisions now allow rooftop solar panels to be installed over vent terminals.
• Rainwater Harvesting Systems:
  CSA B805/ICC 805 is included as an alternative design method.
• Accessibility Integration:
  Plumbing-related requirements from ICC A117.1-2017 (Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities) are now incorporated directly.
