2021 International Fuel Gas Code – ICC IFGC-2021

Scope:
The 2021 IFGC® sets minimum requirements for the design and installation of fuel gas piping systems, gas-fired appliances, combustion air systems, chimneys and vents, and gaseous hydrogen systems. It applies to all occupancies, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, and is coordinated with the full 2021 I-Code suite.

• Application Scope:
  Covers fuel gas piping systems up to 125 psig for natural gas and 20 psig for LP-gas, from the point of delivery to the appliance shutoff valve.
• Gaseous Hydrogen:
  Includes complete requirements for hydrogen gas systems, piping, ventilation, and safety, covered in Chapter 7.
• Appliance and System Requirements:
  Addresses installation, combustion air, venting, and connections for all major gas appliance types, including industrial and decorative equipment.
• Prescriptive and Performance Options:
  Allows combustion air, venting, and pipe sizing to be determined by prescriptive methods or approved engineering analysis.
• Appendices:
  Includes informative appendices for gas piping sizing, venting system sizing, inspection procedures, and board of appeals guidance.
• Referenced Standards:
  Incorporates updated references from ASME, ANSI, AGA, CSA, and NFPA for consistent technical coordination.
• Administration and Enforcement:
  Updated and reorganized Chapter 1 to clarify code official duties, appeals process, and jurisdiction-specific insertions.

The 2021 edition reflects changes approved through the ICC code development process and is intended for enforcement by jurisdictions, as well as reference by designers, installers, inspectors, and utility professionals.
